We understand you have a lot of options to choose from when you're looking for a hunt in the great land "Alaska" area. We also understand that making the right choice for your Transportation Services is a HUGE part of what will be a successful hunt. As with most things, changes come quickly and we are on top of those changes and have over three decades of experience hunting both personally and professionally. We have personally seen the changes in Alaska Caribou Hunting, the herds, landscapes and flying business and have to be at the top of our game to provide you with the best opportunities to take your animals while in the field. Ultimately, your success IS our success, so we are going to do our best for you to have a great opportunity at taking animal!
The Caribou Season opens up August 1st and runs through the end of September - our guys start going in on opening day and our last days of dropping guys in the field is generally Mid-September. By the time we start putting guys into the field, we have generally had a couple of really good freezes (which kills off the bugs) and then that also triggers the migration. Then we start dropping our guys at the base of the DeLong Mountains (South Side of the Brooks Range on the West Side) where the animals are migrating over and back into the low lands for the Winter.
For any client with a weight over 220#’s (FAA Average is 175#’s for a Male), an additional Surcharge will be REQUIRED in the amount of $500/client exceeding the 220# weight limit
COMMUNICATION before your hunt is key - whomever you hire as your Transporter should be providing you with as much information up front as possible (i.e. email updates, phone conversations and open communication back and forth - will ultimately be your key to success on the planning side of things. Once you've arrived in town and you're whisked away in one of our planes - listen to your pilot when they drop you in the field. They have been flying the areas daily, know where the animals generally are and will give you tips on where to set up your camp and what to expect from the area you're in.
Having the experience gives us a leg up on the competition - Having the Airplanes and Equipment to get the job done is key to our success.
EXPERIENCE goes a long way in this business and helps you get prepared for what you're about to embark on. Our hunts are timed with the migration of the herd which heads South from the Northern side of the Delong Mountains to the Kotzebue Sound area for the Winter, so we are placing our camps in front of the migration of the Western Arctic Caribou Herd (WACH), as well as, the three (3) other herds along the top of the Brooks Range. We do not have any stationary camps in the field, so we're not placing you in a Cabin that may be miles away from where the herd is actually migrating. We place you in front of the migration of the herd as it is moving - to ensure our hunters have the best opportunity for success while there!
Our hunts are based on an eight (8) day hunting schedule, meaning in Alaska you can't hunt same day airborne, so the first day going into the field you get to set up camp and get prepared for the next six (6) full days of hunting with the seventh day being your scheduled pick up day to come out of the field. This gives you plenty of time necessary in the field for you to have the FULL ALASKAN EXPERIENCE and get the hunting in you're looking for.

Have you ever wondered where to even begin with the equipment you'd want to bring to Alaska for your Alaska Caribou hunt? Well, we make it easy by providing you with a Camp Gear Rental option - which gives you our years of experiences with trials and tribulations of what works out in the field in wild Alaska. It also saves you from the costs associated with bringing your gear up from The Lower 48 on the commercial flights. Let us do the planning for gear in the field & you do the planning for your personal gear (see our suggested gear list). Weight restrictions on your personal gear are limited to:
60#'s per person for Camp Gear Rental & Food Package
120#'s/Person Transport Only
(which INCLUDES the weight of your rifle/bow or weapon of choice)
The Camp Gear Rental & Food Package provides all the "necessities" needed while in the field for your Alaska Unguided Caribou Hunting (Alaska DIY Caribou Hunting). Please keep in mind: If you required daily medicine, special foods, etc - you will want to plan accordingly and ensure you bring with you what you need. We provide a "packaged deal" - we do not do substitutions.
