We STRONGLY suggest & recommend all clients purchase travel/trip protection to help protect you and your trip investment. Your Unguided Caribou Hunts or Guided Hunts can easily cost into the thousands - this is something you will want to protect in the event of an unforeseen event.
Our Business is a SERVICE industry, and although the general public is seldom aware of it, gratuities are a major part of our crew member's salary. They are working behind the scenes - ensuring your planes are maintained, camp gear is maintained and clean, dishes are done, gear is packed and ready for your arrival - and always available to greet you at the airport upon arrival and ensure you are picked up from the hotel for your departure from town.
We get frequently asked questions about what is customary for gratuities. Few other recreational activities rely so heavily upon the professionals in charge for your enjoyment and safety. A gratuity of 15% of your hunt cost is customary, but many leave more when they feel the service was outstanding.
On our Unguided Caribou hunts, many clients/hunt parties will "pool" their gratuities and give them to Sheila to disburse to the Crew. We have a calculation which is agreed upon by everyone and gets disbursed to the Pilots, Ramp Hands. For the guided hunts, the Guides/Camp Hands can be tipped directly.
General Trip Information: In order to maintain our reasonable cost and high level of service, we do not automatically insure your trip against the adverse effects of weather or other factors beyond our control. Your hunt represents a very large investment, and unforeseen circumstances such as named storms, injury or sickness, airline issues, and family emergencies can easily affect your ability to travel.
The weather can and will have a PROFOUND impact on your hunting experience, sometimes in a positive manner, sometimes in a negative manner. Any additional costs for hotels, meals, travel etc under these circumstances are the responsibility of the client. Your hunt/trip is a very large investment and unforeseen circumstances such as injury or sickness, unnamed storms, airline issues and family emergencies can easily affect your ability to travel.
Please take a minute to look into trip insurance to ensure you are covered if an unforeseen incident arises.
